There's Nothing Like a Wedding

This weekend DH was a groomsman in a co-worker's wedding. Let me just say that after 11 years of marriage and the day to day with three kids, seven and under, that there is nothing like a wedding to remind you of the important things in life.

This particular wedding was so similar to our own, being a Czech-Catholic wedding too. At every turn, there was a memory, things I hadn't thought about in years! They even had the same readings we used and two of the same songs.

We took the girls with us although we decided the P-man was too young to go, especially with Daddy at the altar and not helping Mommy. It was so much fun to get to introduce the girls to some of the Czech traditions. When I was little, I had cousins getting married all the time so these were normal things to me but as I am an only child and my kids have no cousins, my girls have never experienced these things. The Czech food was fabulous, I taught the Princess to polka, the wedding march was so fun and the girls did so well even though we got separated. Watching them dance around with other kids they didn't even know brought back so many memories of my childhood. Before the wedding, I took them to see the little house where my West Grandma lived and to the cemetary to say prayers at her grave. That was a sad spot in the day because she would have loved my kids! But, I know she looks down on us and laughs her head off all the time!

So, what did I take away from the day? DH and I are so lucky to still love each other so much after all this time. Our children are truly blessings that we prayed for and were answered. It is easy to forget that in the hustle and bustle of every day life. And, it is a good thing to sometimes go back to your beginnings whether it is in your marriage or in where you are in your life. You just might gain a new perspective from remembering an old one.

Explaining Myself

It just occurred to me that I haven't explained the archery thing. Those of you that are my real-life friends probably already know but for those of you who don't, please let me explain why my girls are armed!

The man in the pictures is my dad a.k.a. "The Great Javi", he is a pro-archer and an archery instructor. People come from "all over" to have my dad teach them, or work on their bows. He is really good and if you can't tell, I am really proud of him. And, if you have a bow hunter in your house, he may know about my dad.

So, the princess, very saucily asked (no, I don't know where she got that attitude!), "If my grandpa is an archery teacher, why don't I know how to shoot?" So for her birthday my dad got her a bow of her very own. She loves it! And, he might be a little biased but she seems to be a natural. And, then of course, what the big sister does, the little sister must do too! And, it doesn't hurt that their daddy is dreaming big of taking the kids on hunts with him and their mommy is dreaming big of whole weekends alone at home!

You just Have to Laugh

The seven year old barfed on me last night! Not kidding! But, praise the Lord, I found my sense of humor again. It was missing yesterday! Please, please, please let today be a better day.

Feeling Like Crying

Today is a bad day. Again.

Last night, just as I was getting ready to go to sleep and literally saying a prayer of thankfulness that all three kids were asleep by 8:30, my three year old, popped her head around the corner. There was a thunder storm and I assumed it had scared her. You know what they say about assumming? As I am hugging her, asking if she is scared of the thunder, she barfs on me! Yep. All over me! DH wakes up, settles her while I run to shower. AS I am making another attempt to fall asleep the baby wakes up. Screaming and screams until 3:00 am! Another attempt to fall asleep. At 3:30 the three year old wakes me up to tell me that she thinks it must almost be morning! Some not very nice words came from my mouth. Then again when the alarm went off at 6:45. And, I can't say it has gotten any better today. I now understand what a friend meant when she told me that the third one put her over the edge! I'm so far over the edge I have to look up to see it...

How's your day?
